Priyanka Chopra has praised Meghan Markle for making a “cynical world believe in fairy tales again”.

The Indian actress, who has reportedly been friends with Markle for years, penned the message after Markle was featured in Time’s annual 100 Most Influential People list.

Chopra referenced the pair’s bond that had developed over time and through their mutual love for food.

The Quantico star wrote: “Somewhere among biryani, pouting and endless conversations, I realised just how deeply Meghan Markle cares for the world.

“With her, what you see is real, and what you get is a relatable young woman with her heart and mind in the right place.”

Markle and Prince Harry, who are set to wed May 19, were also praised by the 35-year-old for encouraging people to “believe in fairy tales.”

She penned: “This ever-smiling, strong free spirit found her prince, fell in love and in turn made a cynical world believe in fairy tales again.”

Chopra added that Markle’s actions will “connect” her to a generation in “much need of kindness.”

“Her compassion, evident in the causes she supports, and her drive to break down stereotypes, obvious in her actions, will connect her to a generation in much need of kindness,” she wrote.

The Baywatch actress then hailed her friend a “princess for the people”, drawing comparisons between her and Princess Diana.

Chopra concluded: “[Meghan] standing shoulder to shoulder with Harry, will be a princess for the people.

“Love always, my friend. Live happily ever after.”

At the time of the royal wedding announcement, Chopra took to social media to congratulate the former Suits star.

She posted: “Congratulations to my girl @meghanmarkle and Prince Harry!! I’m so happy for you Meg! You deserve the best always..keep smiling that infectious smile. Xoxo”
