Prince Harry: Princess Is 'Absolutely Beautiful'

Prince Harry has said his new niece is "absolutely beautiful" in his first comments since the birth of the latest member of the Royal Family.

Harry, who is currently in Australia, said he "can't wait" to meet the Princess.

Meanwhile Kensington Palace dashed hopes of an announcement on the eagerly anticipated baby's name, saying there will be no further updates today.

But the Palace did offer a word of thanks from the Royal couple.

"The Duke and Duchess are hugely grateful for the messages of congratulations they have received from people all over the world," a statement said.

"It means a great deal to them that so many people have celebrated the arrival of their new daughter."

Earlier today the Princess was introduced to grandparents Michael and Carole Middleton and aunt Pippa, who were pictured driving into Kensington Palace.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall were also seen arriving.

The introductions came just hours after William and Kate proudly showed off their second child as they left the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in London just 10 hours after her birth.

They travelled to Kensington Palace, and are expected to remain there for a few days before heading to their country retreat, Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

It is thought the Queen could meet her fifth great-grandchild in Norfolk after she was seen attending a church service in Sandringham on Sunday morning.

The baby princess, who is fourth in line to the throne , was born at 8.34am on Saturday, weighing 8lb 3oz.

William, who had been at his wife's side during the birth, spoke of his joy, telling the press he was "very happy".

The Duke's father the Prince of Wales - who said he wanted his second grandchild to be a girl - and the Duchess of Cornwall are "absolutely delighted" by the news, Clarence House said.

William's uncle Earl Spencer also reacted with joy to the announcement, saying: "It's wonderful news - we are all thrilled for all four of them."

In celebration, London's Tower Bridge turned pink as did fountains in Trafalgar Square.

The moment William and Kate emerged through the doors of the Lindo Wing, supporters cheered and photographers and camera crews captured the first images of the baby girl.

Kate, 33, held the princess who was wrapped in a white shawl and a cream woollen bonnet, and appeared to be fast asleep.

The couple smiled and briefly waved to the crowds and the world's media.

Prince George, now 21 months old, was earlier taken by his father to the private maternity unit to meet his baby sister.

It was the first time George has been officially seen in public in the UK since he left the same hospital as a newborn nearly two years ago.

It is thought the princess could be Christened before the Queen goes to Balmoral for the summer in a couple of months' time.

The birth appeared in the weekend Court Circular - the official record of royal engagements.

The notice read: "KENSINGTON PALACE - 2nd May, 2015 - The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34 a.m. today. Her Royal Highness and her child are both well."
