Priyanka Chopra describes 'super intimate' wedding on The Ellen Show

Priyanka Chopra appeared on US chat show The Ellen Show to discuss her ‘super intimate’ wedding to Nick Jonas and what’s next.

Speaking to host Ellen Degeneres, Chopra said her wedding guests mainly made up of family.

“We had only 200, which was mostly family because both of us have giant families. We wanted to keep it super intimate, just family,” she said.

Degeneres quipped 200 wasn’t really ‘small,’ to which Chopra replied: “Usually Indian weddings are like 1,000 people at least.”

As for the wedding lasting over three days, Chopra said this was customary in Indian culture.

“It was just three days. One Indian ceremony and one Western-Christian ceremony. And one day of pre-rituals which we have in the Hindu wedding.”

She also said her mother, Madhu Chopra, was angry that she hadn’t invited more guests: “My mother was so upset with me the whole time.

“She was like I need to have another party for the 150,000 people I know. How can I not invite my jeweller, how can I not invite my hairdresser? This was the conversation,” she said.

Priyanka, 36, married Nick Jonas, 26, December 1-2 2018, first began contacting one another when Jonas ‘slid into her DMs’ on Twitter back in September 2016.

They are believed to have begun officially dating the following year. She admitted to Degeneres she didn’t know much about Nick’s band ‘The Jonas Brothers’ prior to meeting him but instantly liked his love for his family.

“He hasn’t been corrupted… He’s so family driven, it’s all about his parents, and it’s just really nice and sweet,” she said.

Further on in the interview Chopra revealed she’s developing a movie adaptation of the hit Netflix series Wild Wild Country, about the Indian guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh’s cult in Oregon, America.
