Pro-Abortion-Rights Protesters March Inside Indiana Statehouse

Pro-abortion-rights protesters demonstrated inside the Indiana Statehouse on July 25, as the state senate assembled for a special session to discuss Republicans’ proposed ban on the procedure.

Monday marked the first day that Indiana lawmakers gathered to discuss the proposed ban.

The IndyStar reported that more than 1,000 protesters were present at the peak of the protest.

Vice President Kamala Harris also traveled to Indianapolis on July 25 to meet with lawmakers to discuss abortion rights.

In a tweet, Harris said, “Women should have the ability to make decisions about their own bodies without government interference.”

The proposed Indiana bill would ban all abortions except in cases of rape or incest, or to protect the life of the mother.
