Pro-Hong Kong Flash Mob Organized Outside NBA Pre-Season Game in New York

A flash mob demonstration took place outside New York City’s Madison Square Garden ahead of a NBA pre-season game on Friday, October 11, to show solidarity with Hong Kong protesters and to show support for Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey.

Morey tweeted his support for Hong Kong’s pro-democracy protestors, prompting significant criticism from China’s basketball association, Chinese officials, media and basketball fans. Morey later deleted the tweet and said “I was merely voicing one thought, based on one interpretation, of one complicated event…My tweets are my own and in no way represent the Rockets or the NBA”.
