Product recall issued for Tesco meat-free burgers due to 'burn risk'
Tesco has issued a product recall for some of its meat-free burgers - due to concerns the middles of them may be too hot. On Friday, the UK supermarket giant recalled the 240g Tesco Plant Chef 2 Meat-Free Burgers with Melting Middle.
The company, which has stores across Essex and surrounding areas, said the product contains a potential 'burn risk' for consumers. People who have bought the burgers are being advised not to eat them.
A Food Standards Agency alert about the product states that “the melting middle could potentially cause a burn risk to consumers when biting into the burger”.

Tesco has advised customers who have bought the burgers that they can return them to any store for a refund. The company has said no receipt is required for this.
The recall states: “Tesco are taking the precautionary step of recalling Tesco Plant Chef 2 Meat-Free Burgers with Melting Middle because the centre of the burgers may maintain a high temperature once cooked. This may result in a burn risk to customers."
