The world-famous animated series, The Simpsons, has had its fair share of bizarre coincidences where the show seemingly predicts real-life events.

However, an eerie 3,000-year-old Egyptian artefact might flip that narrative on its head. A photograph of an ancient sarcophagus, which was unearthed from an Egyptian burial ground, allegedly bears a peculiar resemblance to Marge Simpson, the beloved mother figure in the TV programme.

The woman depicted on the coffin is painted yellow, wearing a green outfit, and her blue crown bears a striking similarity to Marge's iconic tall hairdo. And the now-deleted Reddit post has since resurfaced this week.

In the post, the tomb is believed to date back to the "New Kingdom, 20th Dynasty (circa 1186-1069 B.C.)", representing the goddess Nut. One history enthusiast commented on the post: "That's the goddess Nut. I've seen the other pieces belonging to this grave, I think the parents (the deceased was a 16-year-old girl) may just not have had a lot of money so they did the best they could afford."

She further added: "Her shroud is a lot better looking, still in the same wonky style, but so much more attention and love has been put into it. It kinda hits me in the heart every time I see it."

However, the highlight of the discussion was Nut's bizarre likeness to the matriarch of the Simpson household, indicating that ancient Egyptians might have "predicted" the character's creation millennia ago. "So the Egyptians predicted the Simpsons? Plot twist," one Redditor excitedly pointed out.

Another chimed in with: "The Simpsons predicted it. No wait, the Egyptians predicted the Simpsons."

"The only documented time in history where The Simpsons didn't do it first," joked one user. Another added: "I know the Simpsons have been on for a long time but I didn't know that long."

In other comments, some Reddit users speculated that The Simpsons' creators might possess time-travelling capabilities, given their knack for predicting future events and referencing the past.

"Obviously Matt Groening is a 33rd degree mason and has telekinetic communication with creatures outside of our realms of understanding to conjure a character such as Marge to be based from a 3000 year old Ancient Egyptian painting, there are probably other Simpsons characters Groening has created based on unrecovered Ancient Egyptian art," a user suggested.

Another remarked: "Just a further proof that the creators of The Simpsons can definitely travel through time..." And yet another concurred: "Well, It's chronologically impossible for the ancient Egyptians to have known about Marge Simpson... Time travelling aliens must be involved. There's no other logical explanation."

Among the show's eerily accurate 'predictions' are Donald Trump's ascent to the presidency, a global pandemic akin to Covid-19, and the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
