Protester Scrawls 'Pig' in Front of Police Officers Guarding Statue of Former Mayor in Philadelphia

A protester scrawled the word pig in front of each of a large number of police officers guarding a statue of former mayor and police commissioner Frank Rizzo in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on May 31 during protest over the death of George Floyd.

Rizzo is reportedly a controversial figure in the racial history of Philadelphia. Protesters tried to set fire to the statue, according to reports.

A large number of police officers protected the statue from protesters on Sunday. Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney reportedly said the statue would be moved from its current location, outside the Municipal Services Building, across from City Hall, within about a month.
