Protesters Defy Curfew While Demonstrating Over Andrew Brown Jr Death in Elizabeth City, North Carolina

Protesters demonstrating over the fatal police shooting of Andrew Brown Jr defied a curfew in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, on April 27.

Brown, 42, was fatally shot by a deputy on Wednesday morning while authorities were serving a search warrant, according to Pasquotank County Sheriff Tommy Wooten.

A curfew from 8 pm to 6 am was put in place on Tuesday, a day after the city declared a local state of emergency over the protests. Elizabeth City police said as many as 50 people were in violation of the curfew on April 27.
