Protesters Gather Outside University Fraternity House in Nebraska Amid Sexual Assault Allegation

Protesters gathered outside a fraternity house at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on August 25 in response to an allegation of sexual assault.

Footage filmed by Hunter Swanson shows demonstrators outside the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity — known as Fiji — chanting “f*** Fiji” and “no more silence, stop the violence!”

According to local news, a report of sexual assault at the Phi Gamma Delta house was made on Monday. Protesters gathered outside the fraternity house on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday night in response.

The university’s Chancellor, Ronnie D. Green, said the university began an investigation into the allegation as soon as the report was made. Green said the university was “closing the fraternity house and suspending operations of Phi Gamma Delta” while the university’s police department investigates the claim.

In a statement published by local media, Phi Gamma Delta said “no charges have been filed”, and that they were “cooperating with authorities in the investigation.” Credit: Hunter Swanson via Storyful
