Protesters in 'Handmaid's Tale' Costumes Disrupt Mass at Cathedral in Los Angeles

Protesters in costumes seemingly inspired by “The Handmaid’s Tale” interrupted Mass at a downtown Los Angeles church on Sunday, May 8.

A spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles said the demonstrators entered the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels during 10 am Mass, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Demonstrations had been anticipated across the country,” the spokesperson said, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. “The incident was handled accordingly by cathedral security ensuring limited disruption of Mass.”
