Protesters and Israeli Forces Clash in East Jerusalem After Killing of Palestinian Protester

Two people were detained and multiple homes were raided in Isawiya, East Jerusalem, on Friday, June 28, during clashes triggered by the fatal police shooting of a Palestinian man the night before, according to the Palestine news agency WAFA.

Twenty-year-old Mohammad Samir Ebeid was shot by police on Thursday evening, said a Times of Israel report. Israel Police alleged that he fired fireworks at security forces from close-range during “violent disturbances” in East Jerusalem. Police said Ebeid had previously been imprisoned for planning a shooting attack, and that he later died of his wounds in hospital.

According to the Jerusalem Post, at least 20 people were injured after the clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli forces erupted on Thursday.
