Protesters Use Leaf Blowers to Combat Tear Gas as Clashes Continue in Portland

Thousands of protesters rallied again in downtown Portland, Oregon, on July 23, the night after federal officers used tear gas on crowds of protesters, including the city’s mayor.

This footage, posted to Twitter, shows crowds of protesters chanting; a group of women linking arms as part of the Wall of Moms initiative, and protesters using leaf blowers to combat tear gas.

By around 2 am on July 24, police said the protest outside the federal courthouse was deemed an “unlawful assembly” and warned that police could use tear gas or impact weapons if crowds failed to disperse. Credit: @gravemorgan via Storyful
