Protesters in Opposition-Held Areas Mark Eighth Anniversary of Syrian 'Uprising'

Protests were held across opposition-controlled areas in northern Syria to commemorate the eighth anniversary of the “uprising” against the Syrian government, local media reported.

March 15 marks eight years since major unrest spread to Syria’s two major cities, Damascus and Aleppo, and to smaller cities nationwide. The unrest was met by a violent crackdown, leading to the outbreak of civil war.
