Protesters pledge £8,000 to fly inflatable 'Trump baby' over Parliament during US President's UK visit

Thousands of protesters have called for a giant helium balloon shaped like Donald Trump as a baby to be flown over the capital during the President's visit to the UK.

The six metre tall balloon has been crowdfunded by members of the public and is expected to be a focal point during protests against the trip.

Mr Trump will make a three-day visit to the UK that will begin on July 13.

Around 53,000 people are planning to attend the official protest against Mr Trump's visit to the UK.

Among them will be the organisers behind the giant inflatable balloon Trump Baby.

Almost £8,000 has been raised to fly the balloon over the protests in Parliament Square.

The organisers wrote on their crowdfunding page: "A group of us have chipped in and raised enough money to have a 6 meter high blimp made by a professional inflatables company, to be flown in the skies over Parliament Square during Trump's visit."

Mr Trump's visit is expected to be a 'best of British' tour. During his trip he will meet with Theresa May at Chequers before joining the Queen at Windsor Castle.

He is then expected to visit Turnberry golf course in Scotland before jetting back to the US.

Scotland Yard said: "We are preparing for a multi-faceted policing and security operation, involving the protection and movement of the president.

"The requirements of this complex operation need to be balanced with the right of individuals to a freedom of speech."
