Protesters Rally Ahead of Delayed Derek Chauvin Trial in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Demonstrators gathered outside the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, on March 8, on the anticipated first day of former police officer Derek Chauvin’s trial.

Footage taken by the Longfellow Nokomis Messenger shows a crowd chanting “If George don’t get it, shut it down.”

Jury selection for Chauvin’s trial was set to begin on the Monday, but was delayed for “at least a day” as officials worked to determine if a third-degree murder charge could be added to Chauvin’s other charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter, according to the Star-Tribune.
