Protesters in Yangon Bang Pots and Pans in Opposition to Military Takeover

Protesters across Myanmar banged pots and pans and waved flags in demonstrations on Tuesday, February 2, against the military takeover of the country the day before.

Myanmar’s military seized power and detained dozens of lawmakers, including the country’s democratically elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi. The move sparked widespread international condemnation, with the US vowing to “take action against those responsible if these steps are not reversed.”
