Protests in Paris as Macron Re-Elected
Police in riot gear were seen charging at protesters in Paris and using tear gas after Emmanuel Macron was re-elected as president on April 24.
Footage taken by Nicolas Mercier of Hors-Zone Press shows a large number of police in riot gear charging through Les Halles shopping center and metro station.
The footage also shows police and protesters out on a nearby street, as tear gas is used.
Protesters are seen carrying climate-related banners, while at Place de la Republique, the words “le monde brule,” or “the world is burning,” can be seen on the pedestal of the square’s central monument. Credit: Nicolas Mercier via Storyful
