Protests at US Embassy in Baghdad Over Strikes on Iran-Backed Militia

Protesters stormed the US embassy in Baghdad on December 31, setting fires, destroying security cameras, and attempting to smash windows, following US airstrikes on the Iran-backed Kataib Hezbollah militia.

US flags were burned and fires set outside the compound, with some protesters climbing the embassy’s perimeter wall to wave flags bearing the logo of Kataib Hezbollah, the militia group targeted by the US.
