Writing in the Mail Online about the history of her old home, the 80-year-old explained: "My second husband, John Playfair, who is finally selling his house, too, is irretrievably throwing in his lot with me (we’ve famously maintained separate houses throughout our time together).
"Our new house (‘Our Eventide Home’, as John rudely calls it) is totally different, and planning this is a great antidote to keening over the loss of the old one."
Leith purchased the manor house back in the 1970s with her first husband Rayne Kruger, who died in 2002 and whose ashes are scattered in the land’s lake.
She added in the publication: “I think the lake and garden are what I will miss most on leaving. Rayne’s ashes are in the water, scattered after his death in 2002, and I’m rather sorry mine now won’t be.”
The couple had lived there with their two children, son Daniel, who is now a Conservative MP, and adopted daughter Li-Da.

The cook has previously given details of the new home she and Playfair will share together, telling The Telegraph: "It’s quite modern, which is unusual in the middle of the Cotswolds.
"The council thought the plans were architecturally exceptional. We probably won’t move in until Christmas."
