PS5 stock – live: Game, Very, Currys and more retailers restock the console – here’s where to buy one today
Update 5 August: The PS5 is still in stock at Argos, Game, Very, Currys, Hughes, Studio, EE and Scan. PS5 digital edition bundles are also in stock at the BT Shop, with disc edition bundles available too. Read on for more information.
Since its launch in 2020, the PlayStation 5 has been ridiculously difficult to get a hold of. Supply chain issues stemming from the coronavirus pandemic have brought the production of Sony’s latest games console to a near-standstill.
Thankfully, the stock situation has improved massively in recent months, with PS5 bundles being readily available in at least one retailer since late April. Game and the BT Shop, plus several independent retailers like The Game Collection and Scan have continued to lead the charge.
This avalanche of console restocks continued throughout July, and we expect it to remain widely in stock throughout August and into September. But while restocks have become more frequent, buying a console on its own is still a challenge, with retailers preferring to restock bundles over the standalone console – those sell out in the blink of an eye. We only started seeing digital console bundles arrive in stores last month, but even those have since dried up.
If you’re still hunting down the elusive PlayStation 5, we’ve got one tip for you – sit yourself down on this liveblog and watch for your real-time alerts. Our aim is to secure you a next-gen machine, whether that’s a bundle, or a standalone disc or digital edition console, as well as provide you with the details on the best games and accessories to nab alongside your new console, plus the latest game reviews.

That brings another day to a close, and we’re leaving things pretty much as we found them this morning. PS5 disc edition consoles are widely available as a part of bundles from several retailers. These include Game, Scan, Currys, the BT Shop and EE.
Consoles bundles are also available to pre-order at Very for delivery later this month, and some lucky Amazon customers have received invitations to make their purchase through the retailer’s new queuing system.
Where can you buy the PS5 today?
Thursday 4 August 2022 09:05 , Alex Lee
Gooooooood morning PS5 hunters and welcome back to another edition of The Independent’s PS5 restock liveblog. We’ve made it our mission to secure you all a brand new console, so sit yourselves down on this page an we’ll tell you what’s what and how to get the best deal on the console.
Right now, PS5 bundles are in stock at Game, Very, Currys, Hughes, Studio, EE and Scan. We’ve also spotted PS5 digital edition bundles in stock at the BT Shop, with disc edition bundles available too. Stick around and we’ll go through each retailer one by one. Let’s get going!
The BT Shop is the only retailer with digital edition bundles in stock
Thursday 4 August 2022 09:31 , Alex Lee
Searching for a digital edition PS5 console? You’re in luck, though some of you will be very much out of luck. The only retailer with the digital edition PS5 console in stock right now is the BT Shop.
BT is selling the digital edition console with a copy of Horizon Forbidden West for £409.99. It also has disc edition bundles in stock. So what’s the catch? You need to be a BT Broadband customer to buy the console, or at least have an access code. If you have a friend who’s with BT, they can also lend you their access code and they won’t be charged.
Very has the cheapest PS5 disc edition console in stock
Thursday 4 August 2022 09:55 , Alex Lee
Very restocked both the standalone disc and digital edition consoles yesterday morning, but both have sold out at the time of writing this post.
That said, the retailer still has the cheapest PS5 disc edition bundle in stock. You can get the PS5 disc edition console with a copy of Horizon Forbidden West for £499.99, and it will be delivered on 26 August. It’s a bit of wait, but worth it if you aren’t looking to spend over £500 for a console. No one else, besides BT, has this bundle in stock.
How to get a PS5 from Amazon
Thursday 4 August 2022 10:20 , Alex Lee
On 27 July, Amazon switched over to a new invitation-only system when it comes to buying the PS5 disc edition console. Customers can register with their Amazon account and be in with a chance of receiving an exclusive invitation to purchase the console.
If you receive an invitation with an exclusive link inside it, you’ll have 72 hours to buy the PS5 before it is released to someone else. The digital edition PS5 console and the official Horizon Forbidden West bundle don’t seem to be a part of this invitation-only scheme, however, so we might still see general restocks pop up now and again.

EE has a PS5 bundle in stock for £515
Thursday 4 August 2022 10:45 , Alex Lee
There are two PS5 disc edition bundles in stock at EE, but the cheapest costs £515, and comes with an extra controller. You need to be an EE pay monthly customer to buy the console, and you’ll pay for it over 11 months via the “add to plan” service.
Sadly, it also appears that this specific bundle is more expensive than it is at parent company BT, who is selling this same bundle for £508.98, but you do need a BT access code to buy it from the retailer.
Studio is selling this disc edition bundle with an extra controller
Thursday 4 August 2022 11:10 , Alex Lee
Next up, we’ve got Studio, who is currently selling a PS5 disc edition bundle with a copy of Horizon Forbidden West an an extra controller for £559.99.
How worth it is this bundle? You’re essentially paying the standard £499.99 for the official Sony bundle, and then coughing up £60 for the extra controller. You’re not saving any money, but you aren’t losing any money either, because the controller on it own retails for £59.99.
Game PS5 bundles start from £584.97
Thursday 4 August 2022 11:35 , Alex Lee
Game is the sixth most expensive retailer out of the ones with stock available today. All of its cheap bundles have sold out, so you’ve only got a handful of expensive bundles left to pick from – most leaning towards the £600 mark.
The cheapest bundle currently in stock on the site costs £584.97 and comes with a PS5 disc edition console, Horizon Forbidden West, an extra controller and a PS5 T-shirt.
Game drops new PS5 bundles
Thursday 4 August 2022 12:00 , Alex Lee
Game is reading the liveblog apparently, because the retailer has just dropped a bunch of new bundles onto its website, and they are a lot cheaper than before.
The cheapest disc edition bundle now costs £519.98 and comes with an extra controller and a controller case. Scroll to the bottom of Game’s website to see the cheapest bundles on offer.
Argos restocks the £499.99 PS5 disc edition bundle
Thursday 4 August 2022 12:30 , Alex Lee
Want to pick up a PS5 bundle today? Argos has just restocked the PS5 disc edition console with a copy of Horizon Forbidden West for £499.99, matching the cheapest disc edition bundle from Very and the BT Shop.
It’s a regional drop, so not every store will have the console, but most will, seeing as it has just restocked. Good luck!
This Currys PS5 bundle comes with a 1TB WD SSD
Thursday 4 August 2022 13:30 , Alex Lee
Currys is usually the most expensive retailer out of all of the ones with PS5 stock available, but not this time. While bundles on the retailer’s website are still expensive, they’re not the most expensive.
The cheapest Currys bundle comes with PS5 disc edition console, an internal 1TB SSD, a copy of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Horizon Forbidden West. It costs £649.

Hughes has three bundles in stock, including one with ‘GT7'
Thursday 4 August 2022 14:30 , Alex Lee
Then we’ve got Hughes, who currently has three bundles in stock. The best one in terms of games and accessories costs £659.94, but the website says that there is currently low stock available. At the time of writing, it is still in stock and ready to buy.
You get the PS5 disc edition console, two controllers, a copy of Gran Turismo 7, the official Sony HD camera, a media remote and a controller charging stand. Hughes bundles are about the same price as the bundles at Currys.
Scan has an expensive PS5 bundle in stock for over £700
Thursday 4 August 2022 15:30 , Alex Lee
Whew, what a day. Lastly, we’ve got Scan, who has the mother of all PS5 bundles available to buy this afternoon. It costs an eye-watering £739.99.
What do you get for spending that much money? You get the PS5 disc edition console with a 1TB SSD, a Sabrent SSD cooler and an extra dualsense controller.

Good morning, PS5 hunters
Friday 5 August 2022 09:10 , Alistair Charlton
Good morning, happy Friday and welcome back to another day of PS5 restocking news. The situation is looking pretty good out there today, with console bundles available at a number of retailers and at a broad range of prices.
Stick with this blog for all of the latest news on PS5 restocking across the UK and US throughout the day.
These are the PS5 bundles available at Game today
Friday 5 August 2022 09:31 , Alistair Charlton
Game currently has six different PS5 bundles in stock and available to buy online right now. The console isn’t available to buy on its own, however, and bundle prices range from £584.97 to £609.95.
They all include the PS5 disc edition instead of the digital edition, and the cheapest bundle features Horizon Forbidden West, a second Dualsense controller, and a ‘Player 1’ t-shirt.
Other bundles from Game include Gran Turismo 7, a cap and a controller charging dock.
Very has these PS5 bundles in stock today
Friday 5 August 2022 10:02 , Alistair Charlton
Very is another retailer with PS5 stock today, but as with everyone else the console is only available as part of a bundle. The cheapest bundle is priced at £499.99 and includes the disc edition console and Horizon Forbidden West.
Above this, Very sells the same bundle but adds in a second Dualsense controller for a total of £559.98.
Both of these are available to order now, but Very is operating a pre-order system and deliveries aren’t due until 28 August.
Currys has nine PS5 bundles in stock right now
Friday 5 August 2022 10:29 , Alistair Charlton
Currys has put in a stellar performance over the last few weeks. At one point we saw 13 different PS5 bundles in stock at once, and while this has now fallen to nine bundles, it’s stilll fantastic news for PS5 shoppers.
All that said, these aren’t the cheapest PS5 bundles around. Instead of having a console and a game for about £500, Currys’ bundles start at £649 and run up to £729.
The cheaper of those includes a PS5 disc edition console with Horizon Forbidden West, Lego Star Wars, a second Dualsense controller and a 1TB storage drive.
The most expensive also includes the console, games and controller, but also throws in Gran Turismo 7 and a Steelseries gaming headset.
What happened to stock at PlayStation Direct?
Friday 5 August 2022 11:27 , Alistair Charlton
It’s a very good question. What has happened with PlayStation Direct? Sony’s own online retail store opened its UK doors towards the end of 2021 and began with loads of console restocks. And, crucially, this meant the console on its own and not part of a bundle.
Now though, we haven’t seen any stock at PS Direct since 1 July, which is about five weeks ago. Before that, we saw two restocks in April and May, then just one in June. Realistically, buyers are best buying a console bundle from a different retailer, then selling the included games or accessories if they aren’t what they want.
These are the PS5 bundles from Hughes available today
Friday 5 August 2022 12:30 , Alistair Charlton
Hughes is yet another retailer with PS5 stock available online today – but, again, they are pretty expensive and only include the disc edition console. The cheapest two bundles are priced at £659.94. One, which is almost sold out at the time of writing, includes the console plus Gran Turismo 7, a second Dualsense controller, the official media remote and camera, and a charging dock for a pair of controllers.
For the same price, Hughes has a bundle with the console, controller, charging dock and remote, plus Fifa 23 and Horizon Forbidden West.
Lastly, a £699.95 bundle from Hughes has the console and second controller, plus a gaming headset, Gran Turismo 7 and Fifa 23.
These branches of Game have PS5 consoles in stock today
Friday 5 August 2022 13:02 , Alistair Charlton
Buying a PS5 console on its own is tricky at the moment, as almost all retailers only sell it as part of a bundle with games and accessories.
Your best bet to secure a console is to head to your local high street, where branches of Game occasionally have some PS5s available on their own. Each Game store has a Twitter account that is often used to announce console stock levels. Keep an eye on this Twitter list to see every tweet from every store.
At the time of writing, these Game branches have PS5 consoles in stock:
Cowley
Connswater
Rhyl
Scunthorpe
Bath
Corby
This PS5 bundle is available now at Studio
Friday 5 August 2022 13:29 , Alistair Charlton
A single PS5 bundle is available today at Studio. It is priced ta £559.99 and includes the disc edition console, plus a second Dualsense controller and Horizon Forbidden West.
These PS5 bundles are available for BT customers
Friday 5 August 2022 13:59 , Alistair Charlton
As it has done for a while now, BT is offering its customers an exclusive way to buy PS5 console bundles. BT Broadband customers can ask for a code, which lets them buy the console from the online BT Shop.
Crucially, BT Shop currently offers the cheapest PS5 bundle we’ve seen available anywhere right now. This includes the lesser-spotted PS5 digital edition, with Horizon Forbidden West and a second Dualsense controller, for £459.99.
BT is also selling the PS5 disc edition console on its own for £449, and that console with a second controller for £508.98. Lastly, adding Horizon Forbidden West to that bundle takes the price up to £549.97.
Argos has consoles available, but they are tricky to find
Friday 5 August 2022 14:02 , Alistair Charlton
As usual, the Argos websites says PS5 consoles are available. However, whether you can actually buy one will depend on where you live, as even home delivery is done on a regional basis. If Argos does have stock in your area, then you can pick up a bundle with the PS5 disc edition console and Horizon Forbidden West for £499.99.
How to buy a PS5 for £45 a month
Friday 5 August 2022 14:31 , Alistair Charlton
When it comes to PS5 sales, EE does things a little differently. Instead of selling the console for its usual price, the telecom lets customers add a PS5 to their monthly bill. EE is currently offering a PS5 disc edition with a second Dualsense controller (but no games and other accessories) for £20 upfront then £45 a month for 11 months. This adds up to a total cost of £515.

Scan has a PS5 bundle in stock, but it’s over £700
Friday 5 August 2022 16:30 , Alistair Charlton
Bundle prices vary a lot these days, spanning £500 to over £700. This offer from Scan is one of the most expensive available right now, and what it includes means it’ll probably only appeal to hardcore gamers who want to get the very most out of their PS5.
This bundle includes the disc edition console, plus Horizon Forbidden West, a second Dualsense controller, a 1TB storage drive and a Sabrent heatsink to help keep the PS5’s sold-state storage stay cool. The bundle is priced at £719.99 and is available now with free delivery.
