PS5 stock update UK- live: Latest console restock from Smyths Toys, Very, John Lewis and more

PS5 stock update UK- live: Latest console restock from Smyths Toys, Very, John Lewis and more

Update: The PS5 has sold out at Amazon. It could drop at Game next. Read on for more information.

The PS5 launched in November 2020, but supply problems and a global chip shortage have slowed the production of Sony’s next-generation console to a crawl. New stock is tricky to find, and when it does appear the PS5 sells out in the blink of an eye.

August was one of the best months ever for PS5 restocks, seeing multiple drops at Very, Smyths Toys, BT and EE, as well as availability at Argos, Amazon and Game. There were around 35 drops in total. This month has already been impressive though, with drops at AO.com, Ace Studio, ShopTo, Currys PC World, BT, Smyths Toys, Game, Very and Argos all taking place. This week, we’ve seen Smyths have another restock.

If you’re still on the lookout for a PS5, you’ve come to the right place. Our liveblog is on hand to give you the latest insight on Playstation 5 restocks from all major UK retailers, both online and in-store, as well as providing details on rumoured releases, the latest PS5 games and accessories to snap up.

PS5 live blog signing off

17:00 , Alistair Charlton

Another quiet one today, wasn’t it? Perhaps we were too greedy expecting another dose of PS5 goodness after the excitement of Amazon’s restock yesterday. Or maybe the retailers are holding out for the weekend. We live in hope.

Anyway, as we put the live blog on charge ready for another day of PS5 hunting tomorrow, we bid you farewell and wish you all a good evening.

If you’re done with waiting for a PS5, or perhaps fancy treating yourself to a second games console, The Independent also has a live blog tracking UK restocks for the Xbox series X.

This console has been far harder to buy than the PS5 in recent weeks, with retailers dropping new stock seemingly at random and often with no notice. As a result the Xbox series X has been selling out incredibly quickly.

But fear not, because the IndyBest team is here to help share the news of series X restocks as soon as they land. Just head over to our Xbox series X restock live blog for the latest information.

How to pre-order the Nintendo Switch OLED

14:34 , Alistair Charlton

 (The Independent)
(The Independent)

While you wait for the next PS5 restock to land, how about pre-ordering the new Nintendo Switch OLED? The latest handheld console is due to be released on 8 October and will be priced from £309.99. The big new feature, as the name suggests, is an OLED screen that is slightly larger than before (7in compared to 6.62in), and promises a much-improved contrast ratio.

If you’re not familiar with what OLED is, it’s a big upgrade from LCD. Instead of relying on a backlight to illuminate the pixels of the screen from behind, the image is produced from light emitted from each individual pixel, giving you higher contrast levels and deeper blacks.

Storage has also been increased for the new model, doubling from 32GB to 64GB.

Retailers like Currys PC World, Amazon, Game, Very and Smyths Toys are all getting involved with pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch OLED.

The best accessories for your PS5

14:03 , Alistair Charlton

 (The Independent)
(The Independent)

Managed to bag yourself a PS5? Or still waiting patiently? Either way, you’re going to want a few accessories, and The Independent is here to help. Our roundup of the best PS5 accessories for 2021 includes a look at controllers, charging docks, cameras, headphones, external storage and much more besides.

There are PS5 staples like the dualsense controller (£56.99, Amazon.co.uk) and the dualsense charging station to go with it (£24.99, Amazon.co.uk), plus the PS5 pulse 3D wireless headphones (£89.99, Currys.co.uk) and the Seagate 4TB HDD (£84.99, Amazon.co.uk).

What’s the difference between the PS5 disc and digital editions?

12:59 , Alistair Charlton

 (Sony)
(Sony)

Like Microsoft and its Xbox series, Sony sells two versions of the PS5 and one is cheaper than the other. However, whereas the Xbox series S and series X differ in terms of design, features, storage and performance, the two models of PS5 have the same specification and performance.

The only difference is how the PS5 digital edition does not have a disc drive, therefore games can only be downloaded from the digital PlayStation store. This also means the digital edition is slightly thinner and lighter than the regular PS5, and it cannot play Blu-ray movies either. As a result, the PS5 digital edition is cheaper, with a retail price of £359.99, compared to £449.99 for the model with a disc drive.

Can you play PS4 games on a PS5?

12:03 , Alistair Charlton

Yes! Almost all of the PS4 games you already own will play just fine on the PS5. You’ll be able to download any games you bought through the PlayStation store on your PS4 and play them on the new console.

If you’ve got the disc edition of the PS5, you’ll also be able to play the PS4 games you already own on disc, too. Obviously, because there’s no disc drive on the digital edition of the PS5, you won’t be able to play any PS4 discs on that console. We’ve compiled together a list of our favourite PS4 games, and most of them have dropped in price since the PS5 came out.

Is the PS5 available to buy in local stores?

11:28 , Alistair Charlton

Sometimes, yes! We know that isn’t the most precise of answers, but it is true that retailers sometimes have PS5 stock in their physical shops, and not just online. A good example here is Smyths Toys, which occasionally receives physical stock at some of its high street shops.

You can call into your local store and ask, or regularly check the Smyths website, which has a tool for listing PS5 stock at all of its UK stores. This database is currently showing no stock at all, but the odd console does indeed show up here, so it’s worth checking every so often.

When did Currys PC World last have a PS5 restock?

10:55 , Alistair Charlton

Currys has already had two PS5 restocks this month, on 2 and 18 September. But these were only available to customers who had previously applied for a VIP pass code through a Currys promotion that is now no longer running.

The VIP code promotion ran earlier in early June, but due to limited stock availability Currys is still sending out the codes sporadically to customers. If you have already entered the promotion to receive a code, then you should receive one by email soon – so keep an eye on your inbox! Otherwise, you should check up on your local Currys shop every so often.

When did Smyths last have a PS5 restock?

09:43 , Alistair Charlton

Smyths Toys has had more PS5 restocks than some other retailers this year. So far, we’ve seen two restocks in July, followed by three in August and two so far this month, on 8 and 20 September.

The website currently states that fresh PS5 stock will arrive in October, without giving any further details. Given there have been two restocks in September, we don’t expect to see any more consoles arrive before next month. The site also says how existing pre-orders mader by 9 September will be fulfilled by 24 September, so hopefully we’ll see those orders shipped out tomorrow.

But don’t forget to check in on your local Smyths stores, as PS5 stock occasionally arrives in individual shops on an irregular basis.

When did Very last have a PS5 restock?

09:19 , Alistair Charlton

 (The Independent)
(The Independent)

We haven’t seen that many PS5 restocks from Very in the last few months. The online retailer dropped fresh PS5 stock on 20 July, then 4 and 24 August, and the most recent restock came on 14 September.

The Very website now states that fresh PS5 stock is “coming soon” but gives no further indication as to when that might be.

When did John Lewis & Partners last have a PS5 restock?

09:01 , Alistair Charlton

John Lewis & Partners has only had a handful of PS5 restocks this year, with stock landing online on 18 May, 13 July and 3 August. You could say this means the retailer is well overdue for a restock – and there are rumours floating around of a restock in the next couple of weeks – but it’s tricky to say with confidence when the consoles will actually arrive.

The latest gossip is that stock could arrive with John Lewis & Partners on 24 September, with a restock going live on 5, 6 or 7 October, but none of this has been confirmed for now.

Will PS5 stock arrive at Asda today?

08:43 , Alistair Charlton

As well as Amazon and Game, we also expected to see PS5 stock land at Asda. That didn’t happen, but we remain hopeful that an Asda restock might still happen before the end of the week.

Asda has done better than other supermarkets with PS5 stock. It restocked twice in May, once in June and twice last month, on 4 and 25 August. With a bit of luck we’ll be able to add 23 September to that list in the coming hours.

Could Game PS5 bundles drop today?

08:29 , Alistair Charlton

As well as Amazon, we had hoped to see a PS5 restock from Game yesterday too. That didn’t happen, but our thinking was that stock would arrive between 21 and 23 September, so that means it could still happen today. With a bit of luck, anyway.

The retailer recently updated its website with a new release date of 30 September, and Game usually drops stock a week and a half before the release date, so today could still be on the cards. If it is going to drop today, the retailer will most likely put up a post on its Twitter page, so we’d recommend following @GAMEdigital for the heads up.

Good morning and welcome

08:17 , Alistair Charlton

 (The Independent)
(The Independent)

Good morning, PS5 hunters! Yesterday we finally – finally, after six long weeks – saw a restock of both the regular and disc editions at Amazon. The drop was exclusive to Prime members and lasted a good 15 minutes or so.

We were hoping to see a restock from Game too, but that didn’t happen. That means we could well see more PS5 stock land at Game today, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

As ever, we’ll be on this live blog all day to bring you all the very latest news on PS5 retocks in the UK.

It’s a goodbye from your PS5 stock trackers

Wednesday 22 September 2021 17:00 , Alex Lee

Well, it finally happened. After a long six weeks of no PS5s from Amazon, the retailer finally turnt up and delivered the goods, and it wasn’t just the disc edition console either! Tomorrow morning, we’re hopefully going to see the PS5 drop at Game and Asda. We’ll be back here bright and early to take you through all of the drops. Catch you all then!

For now, we’re off to watch Pointless. It’s goodbye from Richard – goodbye! And goodbye from me – goodbye.

But we can already tell by how fast the pre-orders are being swept up that we’re going to have another PS5/Xbox series X stock situation on our hands. ‘Deathloop’ PS5 was the bestselling game in the UK last week

Wednesday 22 September 2021 15:20 , Alex Lee

After releasing on 14 September, the time-bending first-person action game Deathloop has time-warped its way into the number one position in the UK game sales charts, leap-frogging Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Is Game still going to drop today?

Wednesday 22 September 2021 14:30 , Alex Lee

Sadly, we think it’s a no-go now, looking at the time. The latest Game has ever dropped consoles is at around 11:45am, so the boat has, er, kinda sailed. There’s a chance that the retailer could tweet about a drop tonight, in which case we should prepare for a drop tomorrow.

Thursday is the last chance this week for the retailer to drop its haul of PS5 stock (it never drops on a Friday). If it doesn’t, we’ll be looking instead to a Tuesday drop next week. Keep your eyes peeled.

‘Far Cry 6’ PS5

Wednesday 22 September 2021 13:40 , Alex Lee

‘Far Cry 6’: £54.99, Amazon.co.uk

 (Ubisoft)
(Ubisoft)

Set in a tropical paradise, you’ll play as Dani Rojas, who is on a mission to take down the ruthless dictator in a bid to save his son. It’s likely to be as politically dicey as the previous Far Cry games made by Ubisoft. With such high-end production values, we were disappointed to see Ubisoft confirm in an interview this week that the game isn’t going to have ray tracing on the PS5 – only the PC version.

If you don’t know what ray tracing is, it’s a graphics rendering process that mimics the behaviour of light. The game was initially slated for a February release, but thanks to those pesky delays, it’s been pushed back and confirmed for 7 October.

Best PS5 accessories: PS5 headset

Wednesday 22 September 2021 12:50 , Alex Lee

 (Sony)
(Sony)

Unlike Game, who bundles all of its consoles with heaps and heaps of official PS5 accessories, Amazon doesn’t get involved in any of that stuff, selling just the PS5 on its own. So if you did manage to secure a console today, we’d recommend picking up some shiny new accessories to go with your cherished machine. And lookie here, we’ve got just the round-up for you to bite into.

One of our favourites is Sony’s pulse 3D wireless headset £89.99 (Currys.co.uk).

“There’s no shortage of gaming headset options out there but the PlayStation 5 pulse 3D wireless headset is a little bit special,” our reviewer said. “Made with certain PlayStation 5 games in mind, its 3D audio means you can feel fully immersed in the experience, feeling like things are truly happening all around you. It’s a distinctive way of doing things that stands out more so than conventional headsets”.

Managed to bag a PS5 at the Amazon drop this morning? Why not treat yourself juuust a little more with an Xbox series X, too! But hang on a sec, aren’t they, like, always out of stock as well?

Sadly, yeah, but, we’re scanning the Xbox restock horizon every second of every day over on our blog to bring you the live drops as and when they happen. They’ve been picking up pace over the past few weeks, so we’d head over there if you want all the latest gossip.

When was the last BT PS5 restock?

Wednesday 22 September 2021 11:30 , Alex Lee

 (The Independent)
(The Independent)

BT uses a similar system to the Currys PC World VIP pass system. While Currys closed the draw to new entrants in June, you can still sign up for an access code at the BT Shop. The retailer last sent out codes via email on 13 September to those who had registered their interest.

These emails contain a code that will take you directly to the order page where you can buy a PS5. It’s super important to register your interest at any and all retailers so that you don’t miss out on these email-only drops. It’s always worthwhile.

Do PS4 games work on PS5?

Wednesday 22 September 2021 10:50 , Alex Lee

They sure do! The overwhelming majority of the PS4 games you own are playable on the PS5. You’ll be able to download any games you bought through the PlayStation store on your PS4 and play them on the next-gen console.

If you’ve just bought the disc edition of the PS5 from Amazon, you’ll also be able to insert your PS4 discs into it and play them that way, too. Obviously, because there’s no physical disc slot on the digital edition of the console, you won’t be able to play any PS4 discs you own. We’ve compiled a list of our favourite PS4 games, and most of them have dropped in price since the PS5 came out.

PS5 digital edition vs disc

Wednesday 22 September 2021 10:25 , Alex Lee

Confused about the differences between the PS5 disc edition console and the digital? Let us break it down for you. Essentially, they’re the same thing – except one is cheaper because it doesn’t have a disc drive. Other than that, they’re pretty much the same machine.

“The lack of disc drive in the digital edition does also mean that the console is slightly smaller and more symmetrical,” said Andrew Griffin, The Independent’s tech editor. “On the other, there is a noticeable bulge in the console’s already large design, though it does not increase the footprint or height.”

The digital edition costs £359, while the disc edition costs £449.

Simply Games PS5 stock goes live, then quickly sells out

Wednesday 22 September 2021 10:00 , Alex Lee

While we were over here, busy getting excited about the Amazon PS5 drop, Simply Games had a stealthy invite-only drop of some expensive PS5 bundles. It included the digital edition console with an extra cosmic red dualsense controller, a wireless gaming headset and a twin charging station.

If you aren’t already registered for PS5 restock emails, we’d recommend signing up so that you don’t miss the next Simply Games drop when it happens.

Could Game PS5 bundles drop today?

Wednesday 22 September 2021 09:44 , Alex Lee

Last week, Game updated its PS5 bundles page with new release dates of 30 September, hinting that the PS5 could drop sometime between 21 and 23 September this week. The retailer usually drops stock a week and a half before the release date, but it’s been breaking this pattern a little bit in recent drops.

In the most recent drop, Game released the consoles just three days before the stated release date. If it is going to drop today, the retailer will most likely put up a post on its Twitter page, so we’d recommend following @GAMEdigital for the heads up.

Amazon PS5 consoles sell out

Wednesday 22 September 2021 09:23 , Alex Lee

And that’s it! Finally, after six long weeks, Amazon had a nice long drop. Both editions have now sold out at the retailer. We hope some of you managed to bag the console. If not, then Game should be dropping either today or tomorrow morning. We’ll, of course, keep you updated with all the latest restock news. Keep following the blog for details about Game and John Lewis & Partners next.

It’s here! The disc edition of the PS5 is now in stock at Amazon! The console costs £449.99 (Amazon.co.uk). If it hasn’t appeared for you yet, keep refreshing the page – it’s often set live in the background before going live on the front-end. The digital edition console should drop next.

Could Amazon PS5 stock finally drop today?

Wednesday 22 September 2021 08:26 , Alex Lee

 (The Independent)
(The Independent)

It has now been exactly six weeks since Amazon last had a restock, which is the longest the retailer has ever gone without a drop here in the UK since the console was first released, hinting that the shipment issues facing a number of industries is also affecting Amazon’s PS5 stock supply.

Amazon usually reserves its PS5 stock exclusively for Prime subscribers, so we’d recommend signing up for a 30-day free trial if you aren’t already a member. The retailer usually updates the product page with a new bullet point, saying that it will give priority access to Prime subscribers, shortly before the console drops, so watch out for that.

If it does drop today, expect it to arrive as late as 9:30am.

What PS5 stock drops could we see today?

Goodbye from your PS5 stock trackers

Tuesday 21 September 2021 17:00 , Alex Lee

It’s been a pretty quiet day on the ol’ blog, with not a drop in sight.

We’re still hopeful, though, that tomorrow Amazon and Game will show us the light.

We’re heading off for the evening to bathe in the sun,

We’ll probably fall asleep, dreaming about all the potential PS5 fun.

Come back tomorrow for some more PS5 stock sniffing action,

Hopefully the console restocks will start to gain traction.

Can you gameshare on PS5?

Tuesday 21 September 2021 15:55 , Alex Lee

 (The Independent)
(The Independent)

Yes, yes you can! You can spread the love with your friends by sharing your entire collection of PS5 games with them, free of charge. Sony changed the name of this feature to console sharing, but it’s the same concept as gameshare. Here’s how to share your games with your friends:

  1. Head over to the console settings tab on the PS5 home screen

  2. Navigate to “Users and Accounts”, scroll down and hit “Other”, then “Console Sharing and Offline Play”

  3. Follow the instructions and disable and enable as necessary

  4. Now add your friend’s secondary account to your PS5 and voila, they’ve got access to your digital games

‘Ratchet and Clank’ PS5 review

Tuesday 21 September 2021 14:15 , Alex Lee

Interested in Ratchet & Clank? At the start of June, Game listed new PS5 bundles with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart onto its website. A PS5 disc edition with a copy of Rift Apart cost £519.98 (Game.co.uk). It’s one of our favourite PS5 games of 2021.

In our review of the game, our writer said that “Rift Apart has charm to burn, in its character design, lively combat mechanics, and explorable levels that feel large without seeming maze-like, busy without being cluttered.”

If you’re looking to bag a console this week, make sure to get one with Rift Apart. You can view all of Game’s PS5 bundles here.

PS5 disc edition vs PS5 digital edition

Tuesday 21 September 2021 13:25 , Alex Lee

 (Sony)
(Sony)

There’s often more stock availability of the PS5 disc edition than the digital edition, but what’s the difference between the two?

Really, the only difference is that there’s no disc drive in the digital edition of the console. This is why it’s cheaper. That said, it’s often more difficult to secure than the disc edition.

Games are downloaded from the PlayStation Store and ownership is tied to your PlayStation Network account. Unfortunately, because there’s no disc drive, you won’t be able to play any physical games you might own. The disc edition of the PlayStation 5 costs £449.99, while the digital edition, without the disc drive, is cheaper and costs £359.99.

Will Tesco PS5 consoles ever re-emerge?

Tuesday 21 September 2021 11:45 , Alex Lee

It’s unlikely that Game is going to drop today, looking at the time. A drop tomorrow morning could happen though.

But does anyone want to take a guess at how long it’s been since Tesco last had a PS5 restock? A month? Two maybe? Oh, no, no, nooo. It’s been SIX MONTHS since Tesco last had a PS5 restock on 15 March. Yep. Six. Whole. Months. We think the retailer has just given up trying to order in the console and is letting rival retailer Asda hoover them up instead.

When could it drop next? It’s anyone’s guess, but maybe in December to get involved in the Christmas rush. As usual, we’ll keep you posted!

When is the PS5 VR coming?

Tuesday 21 September 2021 11:00 , Alex Lee

We sadly didn’t get a sneak peek at the PS5 VR during Sony’s PlayStation Showcase earlier this month, but that was to be expected. It did get shown off at a secret developers summit in August, so at least we know it’s coming.

During the event, Sony revealed new controllers that will allegedly be able to tell where a user’s hands are, and how far away they are from the buttons, as well as the way it would release games for the sequel to its PSVR headset. The PS5 VR is rumoured to arrive in 2022.

You can read more about it below:

PS5’s virtual reality headset has been secretly shown off, report claims

When will Asda PS5 consoles next be available?

Tuesday 21 September 2021 10:30 , Alex Lee

 (Asda)
(Asda)

Asda and John Lewis & Partners are a bit like kindred spirits. They rarely drop stock, hauls are usually small, and they often restock around the same time in the morning. The last drop at Asda took place on 25 August at 8am, and stock sold out within minutes.

in our very scientific retailer rating system, with five being the best and one being the worst, we give Asda a two. It’s a tremendously difficult retailer to secure stock from, and its website frequently crashes when stock drops. Some advise using the app to check out if you’re having issues, but we always recommend adding the console to your wish list and trying to check out through there.

An Asda restock could happen this week, but don’t hold your breath.

Should you buy a PS5 from CeX?

Tuesday 21 September 2021 10:00 , Alex Lee

We hate to say it, but you really shouldn’t buy a PS5 from CeX if you can help it. Scalpers might make a decent profit selling the PS5 to the second-hand retailer – who buys it for £520, but you’ll certainly lose a lot of money if you’re one of us and are looking to actually purchase the console.

CeX is currently selling the PS5 for a whopping £720 – that’s a hell of a lot more than what some of the scalpers on eBay are selling the PS5 for, and even more than the most expensive PS5 bundle at Game. Our suggestion? Stick to the major retailers and get a PS5 at the recommended retail price (£449.99).

When could EE PS5 stock drop?

EE last had a restock on 3 September. While the drops at the retailer haven’t been as fruitful as the ones in August (there were about five last month), the retailer is expected to have at least one more drop this September.

Here’s the catch: Only EE pay monthly customers will be able to buy a PS5 from the retailer, with customers needing to be on a 12-month or longer contract. The network provider doesn’t sell the digital edition console, only the PS5 disc edition (£40 a month for 11 months), but you can also get a PS5 disc edition bundle with an additional dualsense controller (£45 a month for 11

John Lewis PS5 restock date reportedly pushed back (again)

Tuesday 21 September 2021 09:16 , Alex Lee

John Lewis & Partners hasn’t had a restock since 3 August, and it was actually rumoured to drop earlier this month. That date was pushed back to the end of September, and now, according to one PS5 stock tracker, it’s been pushed back again! The @PS5StockAlertUK stock tracker is suggesting that the restock could take place in the second week of October.

It’s not a retailer we’d count on either way. Drops are usually pretty short, lasting a few minutes, if that, and they also drop pretty early on in the morning, so you’d have to be a real morning person to buy it without being a groucho.

Could Amazon PS5 stock finally drop today?

Tuesday 21 September 2021 08:58 , Alex Lee

It’s been six whole weeks since Amazon last had a restock, and we’re a little concerned. Has anyone gone in to check on the retailer? Amazon hasn’t had a drop for such a long time that we’ve started putting up MISSING posters around The Independent offices. Usually Amazon drops a couple of times a month, and did so three or four times in August, so we have no idea what’s going on. It does seem to drop on a Tuesday or Wednesday though, so watch out for a restock.

Since July, you’ve had to be a Prime subscriber to buy a PS5 from the online retailer. If you aren’t one, we’d suggest signing up for a 30-day free trial. Amazon usually updates its product description page with a note about Prime exclusivity prior to a drop, so watch out for that. If it does drop today, expect it sometime between 8:30am and 10am.

What time could Game PS5 consoles drop today?

Tuesday 21 September 2021 08:30 , Alex Lee

Last week, we broke the news that Game had updated its PS5 bundles page with new release dates of 30 September. That means the retailer could drop another batch of consoles either today, tomorrow or Thursday, seeing as it tends to drop stock a week and a half before the date. It last dropped stock on a Tuesday at 11:45pm – the latest it’s ever dropped stock in recent times.

The retailer usually tweets out an alert before the stock goes live, so make sure to keep an eye on Game’s Twitter page, as well as on the liveblog for links to buy the console the second it drops.

Game didn’t drop any digital consoles last week, and these still haven’t been uploaded onto the bundles page. You can see all of the PS5 bundles available below ahead of the restock.

Where could the PS5 drop today?

Tuesday 21 September 2021 08:13 , Alex Lee

Gooooooood morning PS5 hunters and welcome to another day of PlayStation stock sniffing. If you weren’t with us yesterday, Smyths Toys had an unexpected Monday restock. It was fairly unusual for the retailer, who tends to drop stock deeper into the week. But hey, we’re not complaining!

This morning, we could see Amazon and Game drop consoles onto their websites. Stay tuned for more! We’ll be here all day bringing you the live updates, hints and tips as they happen.

That’s all folks!

Monday 20 September 2021 16:59 , Alessandro Mascellino

It’s a goodbye from us here on the PS5 stock liveblog for the day, but we hope you’ve found it useful.

We only got one drop today, from Smyths Toys, but one is better than nothing.

Did you manage to get your hands on a PS5 today? We hope you did, but if not, don’t stress – we’ll be back tomorrow with more PS5 stock liveblogging.

Amazon is among the brands we suspect could restock this week, but we’ll make sure to update the blog with any other drops that may occur across all major UK retailers.

Do VPNs work on the PS5?

Monday 20 September 2021 16:45 , Alessandro Mascellino

Sony doesn’t allow any VPN apps like NordVPN or ExpressVPN to be downloaded from the PlayStation Store, or installed directly on the console in any other way.

However, there’s a workaround you can use to set a VPN on the PS5 if you need to stream geo-restricted content.

Getting a VPN with a Smart DNS feature will do the trick, allowing you to spoof your location on devices that don’t have VPN support from your PC or smartphone.

For more information about the Smart DNS feature and all things VPN, you can read our round-up of the best VPNs.

‘Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic’ will be a PS5/PC timed exclusive

The role-playing game, first released in 2003, is set almost 4000 years before the formation of the Galactic Empire

Still no restock news since Smyths Toys ran out of PS5s this morning, but while we wait, here’s some more PS5 gaming news.

Did you know that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is getting a remake?

The game will be a timed PS5 and PC exclusive, but will most likely be release for Xbox Series X further on.

The news was recently announced by KOTOR Remake senior game designer Tully Ackland on Twitter.

‘Deathloop' features DualSense PS5 controller support on PC

Didn’t manage to get your hands on a PS5 yet but still want to play Deathloop the way it’s meant to be played?

Bethesda just confirmed (via IGN) that the game already features dualsense PS5 controller support on PC.

Specifically, the game supports the dualsense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, although not the built-in controller speaker. Still, pretty cool if you didn’t manage to get a PS5 yet, but really can’t wait to play Deathloop.

Smyths Toys has officially run out of PS5s for the morning.

The website did not go offline, despite the pressing demand, but all available PS5 stock was gone in minutes.

This was the second PS5 restock in September for Smyths Toys, with the previous one on 8 September.

Will there be a third PS5 restock this month from Smyths Toys? Follow the blog for more live updates.

When will Very restock the PS5?

Monday 20 September 2021 11:00 , Alessandro Mascellino

Very last restocked the PS5 on 14 September, and before that on August 4 and 24, respectively.

Does that mean one more PS5 restock may come to Very before the end of the month?

While we can’t be certain of that just yet, we will promptly update the blog if any new stock drops.

Are you also on the hunt for an Xbox series X?

Monday 20 September 2021 10:40 , Alessandro Mascellino

Are you on the hunt for an Xbox series X as well?

While we wait for more PS5 stock to drop, you should know we also have a liveblog to track restocks of Microsoft’s latest console.

Generally speaking, the Xbox series X has been harder to get than the PS5, with fewer restocks in the UK in the last few months.

The less powerful Xbox series S, on the other hand, is widely available from a number of retailers, including Amazon, Currys, and Argos.

When will Amazon restock the PS5?

Monday 20 September 2021 10:00 , Alessandro Mascellino

Amazon last restocked the PS5 on 11 August, with no restocks in September yet.

Before that, Amazon saw two restocks in July, and one in June.

PS5 stocks usually sell in minutes, but follow the blog for live updates.

If Amazon ends up restocking the PS5 this week, you will know.

When did Smyths Toys last restock the PS5?

Monday 20 September 2021 09:40 , Alessandro Mascellino

Smyths Toys last restocked the PS5 on 8 September.

Before that, we saw three separate restocks of PS5 from Smyths Toys last month, respectively on 3, 4 and 17 August.

We don’t know yet if more drops will be coming to Smyths Toys this month, but the retailer does seem to have had more stock available in recent weeks.

We’ll keep our eyes open for you.

When will ShopTo restock the PS5?

Monday 20 September 2021 09:20 , Alessandro Mascellino

ShopTo last restocked the PS5 on 12 September, and before that on 8 September and 5 September.

The online games retailer has been one of the most prolific PS5 sellers in September, with multiple restocks per week.

There’s no confirmation yet whether ShopTo will restock the PS5 once again before the month is through, but it is certainly worth keeping an eye on!

What PS5 stock drops could we see this week?

Monday 20 September 2021 09:00 , Alessandro Mascellino

Good morning, PS5 hunters, and welcome back to another week of stock tracking! Over the weekend Box.co.uk restocked bundles, some of which with some interesting games and accessories.

But what about this week? Well, no official restocks have been yet announced – but Amazon has been restocking PS5 at least once a month since July, and we haven’t seen any drops in September yet, placing the online retailer among our favourites this week. Stay tuned and we’ll let you know about all the drops and when they happen.
