Napoli could reportedly lose star attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this summer amid reports linking Liverpool with making a transfer swoop for the player.

The Reds know the Georgian attacker well following their recent battle with Napoli in the Champions League. Due to his positive displays against Liverpool, he was named as a possible option to replace Mohamed Salah as rumours spread over the two players' respective futures.

Last summer, the Egyptian was subject to intense speculation over his future at Anfield following interest from the Saudi Pro League. Al-Ittihad plotted an audacious £150million swoop for the 31-year-old who then had 18 months remaining on his deal.

In April, Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Bacho Tsalugelashvili claimed that Liverpool were among the Premier League clubs interested in Kvaratskhelia, who it has been suggested could cost in the region of £85million and £102million.

"Is Kvaratskhelia’s agent talking to [Aurelio] De Laurentiis [the Napoli owner]? I believe the agent will meet the president next week," Tsalugelashvili told 1 Station Radio’s 1 Football Night, via Area Napoli.

"However, either the contract renewal will materialise or Kvara [Kvaratskhelia] will go to a top club. I don’t know if it is Barcelona or another team.

"Could it be a Premier League club? I don’t know. Liverpool are also interested in Kvaratskhelia, although Barcelona’s interest is more concrete. There are management sources who confirm the Blaugrana’s desire."

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp spoke highly of the attacker following their meeting during the 2022/23 Champions League campaign. Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold was forced to defend against the tricky winger but the German was left pleased with his full-backs display and impressed by the Napoli talent.

He said in November 2022: "He’s a good player. Both are good players, so it’s a really difficult one. I know people will talk about one or two situations when Trent tried to be in front of him and the ball goes through.

"But he is really good, the boy, and really quick and you have to defend him together in these moments. When he has the advantage of the first movement, then he is already gone."

Now, in a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Paris Saint-Germain are claimed to have already tabled an €80million (£68m) bid for the Georgian winger. The agent of the 23-year-old confirmed that the Parisiens had made an attempt to bring the attacker to Ligue 1.

"Saudi Arabia’s interest in Kvaratskhelia is not true," said Mamuka Jugeli via CalcioNapoli24. "There is interest and an offer from PSG, everything depends on the decision of Napoli and its president."
