PSG Fans Light Flares Outside Champions League Match Closed to Public

Thousands of Paris St Germain fans gathered outside of the Parc des Princes to cheer on their team in a Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, March 11, as the stadium was closed to the public due to coronavirus concerns.

PSG fans cheered, let off flares and shot fireworks into the sky as their team downed the German side 2-0. One banner allowed inside the stadium read “Our Only Virus is PSG”, according to local media.

France had announced a ban on all gatherings of more than 1,000 people just days before the match.

While the Paris-Dortmund game went ahead behind closed doors, two Europa League matches scheduled for March 12 and involving teams from Italy and Spain were postponed.
