Carlo Ancelotti returns to one of his former clubs when his Bayern Munich face Paris-Saint Germain at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.

Bayern will look to continue their good start in Group B after an impressive 3-0 home win over Anderlecht, while Wednesday's hosts thrashed Celtic 5-0 in Glasgow in their opening European game.

The two sides last met in the Champions League group stages back in 2001, when PSG won their home fixture 1-0 before Bayern beat the Parisians 2-0 in the old Olympiastadion three weeks later.

This time around, both will be looking to bounce back after draws in their respective domestic leagues over the weekend.

How to watch

The match will be shown live on BT Sport Extra on Wednesday September 27, with coverage from 19:30 BST.

Lewandowski on fire despite Bundesliga woes

Bayern will be looking to their in-form striker Robert Lewandowski for goals. He has already got 11 goals in all competitions this season, including the opening goal in their 3-0 win over Anderlecht earlier this month in the Champions League.

Lewandowski scored eight in last season's Champions League and nine in the run to the semis the season before, and Ancelotti will be looking to the striker to lift the squad after a difficult start to the domestic campaign.

Indeed, Bayern lost 2-0 at Hoffenheim earlier in September and only managed a draw at home to Wolfsburg on Friday as they slipped up for the second time in just six games. Both Dortmund and Hoffenheim are above Bayern in the Bundesliga table, with the former two points clear at the top.

PSG have lost just one of their last 43 European matches at the Parc des Princes. The 3-1 defeat to Barcelona in the 2014/15 quarter-final was their only loss on home turf since the 4-2 defeat to Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC in the 2006 group stages.

Who is PSG’s ‘main man’?

Both Edinson Cavani and Neymar clashed over who should take the penalty in the 2-0 win over Lyon earlier in September. Cavani ultimately took the penalty and saw it saved, but the episode prompted PSG manager Unai Emery to speak out.

"Penalties will be taken by a couple of players," said Emery. "One is Edinson and the other is Neymar. There needs to be a gentlemen’s agreement on the pitch when it comes to taking spot kicks."

After the world’s most expensive player unfollowed his strike partner on Instagram, it seems that the pair have decided to bury the hatchet and move on from the on-field spat. And a positive relationship on the pitch spells bad news for Bayern, given the dup have bagged 14 between them already this term. Time will tell whether one of them is happy, or indeed encouraged, to play second fiddle to PSG’s main man.
