PSNI concern for missing 13-year-old girl who didn't come home from school

Police in Derry say they are "concerned" for a missing child who didn't return home after school on Thursday.

An appeal for help from the public was issued by the PSNI yesterday for Zara Sheppard, a 13-year-old girl.

She is described as 5'2 and medium build with long, red hair and green eyes. Police believe she may have changed out of her school uniform into a blue/black sweatshirt and Nike leggings.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are concerned for the whereabouts of missing child Zara Sheppard, 13 years old from Derry/Londonderry. Zara did not return home from school yesterday, Thursday 16th January 2025. Zara is described as being approximately 5’2” in height, medium build with long red hair and green eyes. It is believed Zara may have changed her clothing from her school uniform to wearing a blue/black sweatshirt and Nike leggings."

The spokesperson added: "If you have seen or know the whereabouts of Zara could you please make contact with Police on 101 quoting reference 1057 of 16/01/25"
