What the ?#@$: Pub group Sam Smith’s bans swearing

The Princess Louise: Better watch what you say when you're inside

A pub group has banned swearing at its boozers, prompting Londoners to cry “What the...”.

It sounds like a near impossible rule to implement, especially in foul-mouthed London. But according to Time Out, the Samuel Smith’s group is certainly going to try.

The brewery and pub owner, best known and loved for serving cheaper than average pints, has apparently issued instructions to landlords across the country asking that they help prevent the use of bad language on the premises.

Effectively this means that if you’re sweary, you might not get served.

There are 38 Sam Smith’s pubs in Greater London, including The Princess Louise in Holborn, The Glasshouse Stores in Soho and The Chandos in Covent Garden, which all boast impressive Victorian interiors.

They also have The Cock on Great Portland Street, but presumably they would rather we didn’t talk about that one.
