Pub reopens after six-figure refurb

The Gunners Arms in Ellesmere Port has reopened after a six-figure investment. The popular pub has seen an extensive refurbishment and a new staff team recruited.

Located on Thornton Road, the Gunners Arms closed at the end of July. The investment, according to bosses, has gone into "upgrading the pub's facilities and enhancing offerings while preserving its charm".

They say the pub has had a complete refresh, with "contemporary décor" being added. The bar area has also been changed for a "more welcoming feeling."

The Gunners Arms will now have major sports channels such as Sky Sports and TNT broadcasting live events across six large TVs and a projector.

Three practice dartboards accompany one primary ‘match’ dartboard, complementing the existing pool table, which is free to play all day on Monday. The additional boards form part of a new designated darts area.

Katie Browse and Tony McKeating, operators of the Gunners Arms, said: “Our new team have loved welcoming back locals to our renovated pub this week, with the transition to Craft Union marking an exciting new chapter for us.

“We believe the refurbishments have enhanced our warm and welcoming atmosphere while developing the community feel of the pub, which was at the heart of our thoughts during the renovations.

“We are confident in our top-class beer range at a competitive price, and with our new range of beers and signature darts area, pool table and range of screens showing all the big matches, we are confident we’ll be the best place to watch and play pub sport in Cheshire."
