Pub speaks out after 'tragic accident' leaves man fighting for his life

A pub in Cornwall has spoken out after an incident left a young man fighting for his life. The Royal Inn pub in Par was the scene of an dramatic incident after a man fell out of a window and suffered a life-threatening head injury.

In a statement, the pub said they have done "everything" to help the situation and they want to reassure their customers and local community. The pub is currently closed to the public but is open for their hotel guests.

A spokesperson for the pub said: "We would like to reassure our customers and the community in regards to the incident at The Royal Inn last night.

"It has been such a tragic accident and we wish for no one to be discouraged or not comforted by the event, as we have done everything in our power to help and to make the situation as comfortable as it can be at this moment in time. Our thoughts are with the family."

A man in his 20s is fighting for his life after falling from a window. The man, from St Blazey, was rushed to Treliske Hospital but was later transferred to Derriford Hospital. His injuries are life-threatening. Police remain at the scene to enquire the circumstances of the incident, but they are not believed to be suspicious at this time.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at 3.45am today, 11 July, following concern for the welfare of a man in Par. The man had fallen from a window of a property in Eastcliffe Road and sustained a serious head injury. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Treliske Hospital.

"The man, in his 20s from the St Blazey area, was later transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth where he remains in a life-threatening condition."
