The public park near Coventry where you can ride to Warwick Castle by boat

This popular and much-loved public park is not far from Coventry and has plenty to keep families occupied for a full day out this summer, including adventure mini-golf, swimming, and boat rides. St Nicholas Park is a 40-acre park and also has an adventure play area and a cafe.

This gem is in Warwickshire and has a large area of grass for ball games, picnics, or kite-flying. There are also formal flower beds and you can enjoy a relaxing stroll along the river that has breathtaking views of Warwick Castle.

The Fun Park includes a range of rides and games from water shooters to the classic Teacup ride for toddlers up to 12-year-olds. There are also coin-operated games and the Candy Cabin serves fresh candy floss, sweets, and ice-cream.

Rides in the Fun Park include Mini Miami, Flying Fish, Runaway Mine Train, Jungle Blaster, Orbital Cars, Mini Observation Wheel, Hill Billy Train Ride, Adventure Canoe Ride, and more. For younger children, The Funland Express is ideal.

Opposite the Fun Park lies the 18-hole adventure mini-golf. Watch out for the water hazards and "pesky" rocks while making your way around the course, making it a challenge for kids and grown-ups alike. Prices range from £7, with adults at £7.50, children under 16 £7, family group for £25 and a group of 4 for £27.

There's also an outdoor pool for kids up to the age of 12. The pool is shallow, safe, and perfect for children looking to cool down this summer, so remember to bring swimming costumes when you visit the park. There's also a seating area on the side for adults to sit back and relax while the kids have the time of their lives.

The play area has activities designed for younger children, as well as older and more adventurous kids. It is set next to the open lawned areas of the park with climbing frames, swings, and slides, there is lots of room for games both on and off the adventure playground.

It's also the perfect time to enjoy the views and hire a boat. Warwickshire Boats has a range of boats to hire for the day. This includes traditional row boats, canoes, kayaks, pedalos, and electric motor boats so everyone can enjoy a trip to the castle via water. It is open 6 days a week until September, with boat hires from 10am to 5:30pm.

If you need to stop for refreshments, The St Nicholas Park Tea Shop is the ideal place to grab a snack, hot meal, ice cream, or a warm cup of tea. They also offer a range of alcoholic drinks, as well as coffees, smoothies, and cold drinks, plus jacket potatoes, sandwiches, and snacks. There is indoor and outdoor seating available.

St Nicholas Park has a 4.5-star rating on Tripadvisor, with 337 reviews rated 'excellent' out of 590, and 211 noted as 'very good'.

The leisure centre offers something for everyone, whether you want to play some games, learn a new sport or looking to get fit, with many activities available. There are also football pitches, a skateboard and a BMX track, and two full-sized tennis courts to try out.
