Public warned 'not to approach' missing prisoner

Police have issued an appeal after a convict escaped from prison. Raymond McMahon failed to return to HMP Sudbury after he was allowed on day release on Saturday (September 7)

McMahon, who is serving a sentence for robbery, is said to have links to Birmingham. Derbyshire Constabulary have issued an image of the 44-year-old and are warning anyone who sees him to contact them.

Derbyshire Constabulary said: "We are appealing for information after a convict escaped from HMP Sudbury. Raymond McMahon did not return to prison after day release on Saturday, September 7.

"He was serving a sentence for robbery. He is white, around 5ft 10ins tall and of a medium build with black short hair.

"The 44-year-old has links to Birmingham. Members of the public are asked not to approach McMahon and instead contact us with reference 1325 of 7 September:"
