They say you should never work with children or animals, and one man found out why during a photoshoot with his canine sidekick.

Conservation officer Levi Knach’s attempts at striking a serious pose went to pot when his pooch partner Kenobi moved in for an unexpected smooch.

After licking his human’s face, Kenobi offered up a gentle nuzzle, before eventually turning pro and offering up a solemn stare.

The pair’s official portrait was all the better for it however, with their range of expressions taking the internet by storm.

Officer Knach is a member of Indiana’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR), based in Law Enforcement District 2 in the north east of the state.

The heartwarming images were shared on Indiana State Park’s Facebook page, captioned: “Indiana Conservation Officer (ICO) Levi Knach and his K-9 partner Kenobi show some puppy love in their portrait ‘attempt.’

“Kenobi is cute, but make no mistake – he is a trained, working officer and can track people and locate a variety of objects ranging from venison to ginseng.

“We are grateful for the work that our ICOs do all over the state to protect and serve people and to conserve our fish and wildlife resources.”

Pictures posted on Facebook last month show Kenobi helping Officer Knach with some computer -based admin.

Knach looks pleased as punch to be given the assistance, even if his furry pal does get in the way a little bit.

The snaps have gone viral since being shared on Reddit.
