The Pursuit of Love actor Shazad Latif has weighed in on Linda and Fanny's "odd relationship" throughout the BBC miniseries.
The star behind Alfred, Fanny's loyal husband, Latif caught up with Digital Spy for an exclusive interview ahead of the romantic drama's final episode.
On his character, Latif shared: "He's the only male love interest – the most boring one – but the most constant one. He's there through the whole three episodes.
"Lily [James]'s character [Linda] hops from lover to lover, whereas me and Emily [Beecham, who plays Fanny], we have this quite cute, stable relationship. And he's a bit of a weirdo, but what's beautiful is he just watches his wife's obsession [with Linda], which I found very interesting.
"He goes through the years seeing how in love with this other person she is, which is interesting because they're cousins," Latif continued.
"It's quite an odd relationship, and I found that very interesting for the man to watch his wife in love and sort of be OK with it."
The Toast of London cast member also suggested that Alfred's powers of understanding should be cherished.
"For however weird Alfred is, that characteristic is something I suppose we can all learn from," he said. "There's not really any jealousy in him. It's quite nice that he lets things happen.
"It's quite beautiful."
The Pursuit of Love concludes on Sunday, May 23 at 9pm on BBC One. All three episodes are available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.
