Quarantine Cocktail Club: The Peachy Life, from The Artesian's Anna Sebastian

The cruelty of such sunny weather when we're all indoors.

Still, while staying inside is a must – it's doing your part and all that – there's no need to let a four walls and a roof get in the way of living like you're out in the park.

This cocktail is a glorious spring serve, made for long, hot afternoons; it's punchy but fresh and as easy as anything to make. It comes from Anna Sebastian, the brilliant bar manager of the Artesian, the Langham hotel's celebrated cocktail spot. We're big fans of Sebastian; she's someone constantly creating and innovating, who finds new approaches to cocktails but is never pious or preachy about it – absolutely not a cocktail bore, and a good reminder that drinks are about having fun. Be sure to visit the bar once all this had blown over.

Sebastian describes the Peachy Life as "a breakfast highball style" – take that however you like. It works in any glass – note the picture above, after all – and seems to suit any time of day, too, though it's probably too light to cap off a night with. The ingredients here are for one, but this weekend, we're planning to increase it all ten-fold, pop the mix into a pitcher and keep what's leftover in the fridge; properly chilled, it'll be fine tomorrow after a good stir. This is a proper fresh weather drink; practice it now, and have the recipe to hand for those hazy afternoons in the summer.
