Late Queen Elizabeth's hilarious quip to Tom Daley - making fun of herself
The late Queen Elizabeth II, known for her sharp wit and humour, once made a self-deprecating joke about her height during a meeting with British Olympian Tom Daley. The Olympic diving champion, who grew up in Plymouth, shared the amusing anecdote on the Swedish chat show Skavlan.
He recalled: "She commented on her height compared to some of the other athletes in the room and because me and the other athletes were quite small, she said, 'Maybe I should try gymnastics'. She was fully game to get involved in the sport."
A year later, the late monarch expressed her admiration for gymnastics while presenting an award to six-time Olympic medallist Max Whitlock. In a post-ceremony interview, Max shared details of their conversation, revealing that the Queen had told him: "she loved watching the gymnastics because the stuff that we do doesn't seem possible".

"It was pretty cool to hear the Queen say she likes the sport," he added.
The late Queen is fondly remembered for her sharp wit and humour. Her quick retorts and spirited remarks often brought a personal touch to her duties, much to the amusement of those in her company, reported the Mirror.
According to her former protection officer Richard Griffin, the Queen once humorously tricked two American tourists during an interview with Sky News. The incident occurred while he was accompanying Her Majesty on a stroll around Balmoral Castle's grounds.
When the pair failed to recognise the Queen, she seized the chance for a bit of mischief. The unsuspecting tourists asked the Queen, whom they assumed was just another visitor if she resided nearby.
In response, she truthfully stated that she had a house "over the hill", conveniently omitting one crucial detail. Still oblivious, they enquired if she had ever encountered the Queen, leading to her witty comeback.
"As quick as a flash, she said 'Well I haven't but Dick here meets her regularly,'" Richard recalled. The encounter concluded with the duo taking a selfie with the protection officer, blissfully unaware of their Royal encounter.
The Queen's humour was often expressed through her straightforward attitude. When asked about her impressions of Niagara Falls during a visit, she simply responded, "It looks very damp," In the summer of 2013, as anticipation for William and Kate's first child reached fever pitch, the Queen was questioned about when she thought the baby might arrive.
Her candid response was: "I hope it arrives soon because I'm going on holiday,".
