Queen’s Platinum Jubilee plans set with extra Bank Holiday

An extra bank holiday has been announced as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations next year! The four-day long weekend will take place between 2nd and 5th June 2022 according to a Buckingham Palace press release. Several events are planned to help people mark the Queen’s 70-year reign, including Trooping the Colour, lighting of the Platinum Jubilee Beacons and a live concert with A-list performers at Buckingham Palace. Princess Elizabeth was only 25 years old when she became Queen on 6th February 1952. She is the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee and has previously marked her Silver, Gold and Diamond Jubilees. Additional events will take place across the year throughout the UK, Commonwealth and rest of the world. More details will be revealed in the coming months.
