'Queen Of The Selfie' Splits With MP Husband

Campaigning MP Simon Danczuk has split from his wife Karen saying he is "devastated" but "life has to go on".

Mr Danczuk, who has helped to expose historic child sex abuse in Rochdale, confirmed on Twitter that the two have separated.

The couple had faced criticism over Mrs Danczuk's social media profile – she is an avid user of Twitter and routinely posts racy pictures of herself to her 53,000 followers.

The former Labour councillor has proclaimed herself "Queen of the Selfie".

Mr Danczuk, Labour MP for Rochdale, wrote on Twitter: "Thank you for all the nice words following the separation between my wife and I. I'm very upset but focusing on work helps me."

The couple have two children together.

Mrs Danczuk, who also has two children from a previous marriage, told The Sun newspaper: "Needless to say I am gutted by our decision to split after eight years together and three years of marriage."

Mr Danczuk has been instrumental in revealing allegations against the late Rochdale Liberal MP Cyril Smith, detailing the claims against him.
