To mark the end of Volunteers' Week, the Queen has shared an uplifting message to volunteers across the country.

Her Majesty shared words of thanks to "all those who give themselves so freely and selflessly in the service of others" in a statement shared to the royal family's official social media accounts.

"It is inspiring to reflect on the many thousands of people, who through their acts of generosity and kindness, have achieved so much for the greater good," she wrote.

"I have been following with interest how men and women from around the world, including my own family, have been helping and recognising the vital role of the volunteer.

I send my best wishes to all those who give themselves so freely and and selflessly in the service of others."

To coincide with her statement, the Cambridge family also released a new photograph showing Prince William delivering food parcels with Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The image was taken by the Duchess of Cambridge, to demonstrate how the family have been playing their part in the national volunteering effort.

"In April, the duke and duchess and their family visited the Sandringham Estate, where they packed up and delivered food parcels to isolated pensioners in the local area," the caption alongside the image explained.

William and Kate also marked Volunteers' Week by having video calls with volunteers across the UK, to thank them for the invaluable support they bring to their local communities.

The duke has also been volunteering for #Shout85258, the UK's first 24-hour crisis text line, which was launched last year by William and Kate in partnership with Meghan and Harry. He joined more than 2000 other crisis volunteers trained to support anyone, anytime, no matter what their crisis may be, they explained in an additional Instagram post.
