The Royal wedding: The Queen is spotted leaving Windsor Castle to go to church after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's celebrations

The Queen was spotted returning to Windsor Castle after church this morning following her grandson Prince Harry’s fairytale wedding to former US actress Meghan Markle.

The monarch, who regularly attends the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor Great Park, was driven to church in a Range Rover on Sunday morning without her husband 96-year-old Prince Philip.

She was wearing a green hat with pink feather-style decorations and round, dark sunglasses as she made her way to church.

The monarch was the first member of the Royal family to be spotted out and about after Meghan and Harry’s extraordinary wedding on Saturday which marked a new era for the Royals.

Meghan is the first mixed race member of the family.

The Queen was seen being driven back to Windsor Castle soon after the morning service had finished.

As a few Windsor Farm shop regulars watched, her Range Rover swept into a side entrance onto the castle estate.

Royal fans were eagerly waiting for any sign of the newlyweds Meghan and Harry who now have the official titles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The Queen attended the wedding with the Duke of Edinburgh on Saturday. He was well enough to walk unaided just six weeks after he had a planned hip replacement operation.

He waved enthusiastically to the crowd as he left St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle following Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding ceremony.
