Queensland Catcher Finds Carpet Python Has Huntsman Spider for Company

Extracting a carpet python from a water feature is no easy feat, as one snake catcher learned in Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

Stuart McKenzie, who owns Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7, was called out to a retirement village to fish the reptile out of the water feature.

Not only was there a carpet python within the garden decoration, but a large, hidden Huntsman spider also managed to scare McKenzie’s cameraman.

Removing the snake was an arduous process, but McKenzie soon found a workaround.

“The snake had wedged itself right up in the top of the feature. We tried gently poking the snake with a hook, but that didn’t work so we flushed a bit of water in there and that did the trick! The snake slowly made its way up and out of the water feature,” he explained in a Facebook caption. Credit: Stuart McKenzie via Storyful
