Queensland Police Fine Driver Who Had to Be Rescued After Ignoring Flood Warnings

Queensland Police fined a man after emergency services had to tow his vehicle from floodwaters in Alberta on Tuesday, November 30.

Police said the man, 23, drove around “Road Closed” and “Water Over Road” signs along Baralaba Woorabinda Road. He tried to drive through a 100-meter patch of floodwater that was approximately two meters deep with a strong current, they said.

The car was wept off the roadway and became wedged against trees, police said. The driver and his dog then waited on the roof until help arrived.

Video released by Queensland Police shows the truck being towed from the floodwater by emergency services.
