Queer favourites serve stunning looks at 2023 Met Gala
It’s the most wonderful time of the year… for fashion! That’s right, the 2023 Met Gala arrived last night, May 1, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with the esteemed guests taking the opportunity to show off their jaw-dropping outfits. Among the famous faces present at this year’s Met Gala, queer celebrities certainly didn’t shy away from delivering some of the most dazzling and captivating looks of the night.
The 2023 event was a homage to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, a revolutionary in the fashion industry who left an indelible mark at Parisian houses like Chanel and Chloé. Many of the attendees paid tribute to the designer, who passed away in 2019, by wearing looks inspired by this year’s theme: ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’.
Here is a glimpse at some of the most iconic queer looks served at the 2023 Met Gala.
Lil Nas X
While Lil Nas X is not new to showing off stunning looks at the Met Gala, this year, he was on a whole other level. He returned to the red carpet covered head-to-toe in silver body paint, crystal and pearl, only wearing a silver thong and some frankly frightening platform heels. He certainly won’t get any complaints about wearing a boring outfit!

Jeremy Pope
Maybe the best at fitting this year’s theme, Jeremy Pope conquered the red carpet with a massive Balmain cape emblazoned with Karl Lagerfeld’s face.

American actor Harvey Guillén decided to stray far away from the plain suits men usually wear, rocking a gorgeous pink and flowery outfit instead.

Janelle Monáe
The Glass Onion star didn’t just simply wear an outfit; she also decided to treat us to a whole performance, removing layers and stripping down from a luxurious coat to a sheer hoop gown.
