Potter fans, brace yourselves, Clapham will host a Quidditch Premier League fixture on June 23.

The first Southern division tournament of the Quidditch Premier League will take place on Clapham Common.

The teams taking to the field on June 23 include the London Monarchs, Eastern Mermaids, South East Knights, South West Broadside and Welsh Dragons.

This first game will be a home match for the London Monarchs, who finished third place in the Championship last season.

Manager Matt Bateman said, “The London Monarchs are incredibly excited for our first fixture.

“The team has been working incredibly hard and we're really looking forward to seeing what the other teams have to offer across the Quidditch Premier League.”

Each team will play three divisional fixtures, competing for a place in the QPL Championship match on August 25 in Cardiff.

Quidditch developed into its own sport, off the back of J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter books. Now the sport has over 20,000 international players in 25 competing counties. It also has an international rulebook which all players must abide by.

True to Rowling’s novels, each team consists of one keeper, three chasers, two beaters and one seeker.
