Many people flock to live in commuter towns to escape the hustle and bustle of London. But while this Buckinghamshire village may be quiet and leafy, it's anything from boring.

If you fancy living somewhere that could leave you rubbing shoulders with film stars everyday, then this could be just the spot for you. And with just a 23-minute commute to Paddington on the Elizabeth line, you won’t be lumped with a lengthy journey into work every day either.

Houses in the Buckinghamshire village of Iver cost around £100,000 less than in London - £609,143 compared with £705,835 on average. And many of the people who are choosing to move to the area, are coming from West London.

MyLondon spoke to sales manager Chris at Oakwood Estates: “A majority of our applicants come from the West of London, to have more countryside and bigger homes. It’s got a grammar school catchment area so good schools locally, transport links, not just Crossrail but motorway links, the M25, M4 and M20 are close by.

“You have Pinewood Studios where they film a lot of Disney films, James Bond and more. You have Langley Park and Blackwood Park, two big country parks. It’s close to other big commuter towns. It’s a family sort of location, lots of families with children growing up, there’s a local high street with hairdressers, barbers and more.”

Walk the same streets as royals and sports stars gone-by

It may come as a surprise that this quiet Bucks Village has been home to several famous people, seemingly a favourite with royals and sports stars alike.

Prince Edward Duke of Kent and Prince Michael of Kent both lived in the village, as well as Princess Victoria, daughter of Edward VII. Aston Villa footballer Matty Cash also grew up in the village, as well as Jamaican-born British former sprinter and athletics coach Linford Christie OBE, who is the the only British man to have won gold medals in the 100 metres at all four major competitions open to British athletes.

One of Buckinghamshire’s ‘best kept secrets’ Langley Park is a ‘haven for wildlife’. Boasting a Rhododendron collection in its Temple Gardens, the park has views to Windsor Castle and beyond.

After you’ve had a wander around the grounds you can relax with a hot beverage in the Langley Tea Rooms, which also serves cold snacks and homemade cakes. For little ones, there’s a children’s play area, as well as history and tree trails

How to get there

The average journey time between Iver and Paddington is just 23-minutes long. You can catch the Elizabeth line in the direction of Abbey Wood, getting off at Iver station.

The journey is just five stops, making the village a great option for an easy commute into the city, with some services even shorter than 23-minutes.
