It's now been nearly 60 years since KFC opened its first branch in Liverpool. Kentucky Fried Chicken, the brainchild of Colonel Sanders, first arrived in the UK in 1965 and its inaugural restaurant opened in Preston in May that year.

But that same year, the first Liverpool branch also opened on County Road in Walton - which at the time was one of only three KFC's in the country. On June 3, 1975, a Liverpool ECHO advertising feature reported how the County Road KFC was celebrating a decade in business.

Also published in the feature was an ad promoting Kentucky Katering, which supplied special occasions - such as weddings, picnics, reunions, receptions, jamborees, anniversaries and parties - with Kentucky Fried Chicken. This included prices of menu items that customers could takeaway, from chicken dinners to party buckets, sides and more.
