Raab on plans for evacuations from Afghanistan

The British Foreign Secretary said Thursday he had "good conversations" with the Qatari Emir and Foreign Minister of Qatar about "the workability" of reopening the airport in Kabul "in the near future"."I don't think we're yet able to say anything formal but that's looking like it may happen," said the Foreign Secretary, speaking in Qatar following talks.Also on Thursday, Qatar's foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said that getting the airport up and running again remains Qatar's focus, but added that there were no indications of when it will be fully functional again.Kabul’s international airport has been closed to normal traffic since Aug. 16, when the Taliban took control of Kabul.
