Street food sensation Raclette Brothers is to open a permanent home in the capital at the end of the month.

The cheese-obssessed outfit will be opening their Alpine themed restaurant Alpes at foodie favourite Pop Brixton.

The restaurant will be the first restaurant in London to serve up the eponymous raclette – the dish of melted cheese draped over meats, potatoes, pickles and more – using a traditional heating machine.

Tableside waiters will be scraping melting cheese off warm wheels of either traditional Raclette de Savoie or Bermondsey Raclette from the Borough Market-based Kappacasein dairy.

For all those whose skiing holidays are more about consuming calories than they are perfecting parallel turns, Raclette Brothers will be serving up a host of slope-side favourites on the site’s menu.

Cheese enthusiasts (and not just those lucky enough to ski) can enjoy traditional tartiflette, and a choice of fondues ranging from daily changing British cheeses to a mixed Blue Fondue.

Lighter bites will include charred asparagus with butter bean hummus and rosti balls with homemade sauerkraut.

The soft launch will run from April 24 to 29, before the official opening on May 1.
