Outgoing BBC Radio 1 breakfast host Nick Grimshaw has slammed “fake” Will Smith as he opened up about his best and worst guests over the years.

In May, Grimshaw announced that he would be giving up the early alarms after nearly six years and swapping slots with DJ pal Greg James, moving to Drive Time on the broadcaster.

And now the 33-year-old has dished the dirt on half a decade of celebrity interviews, laying into some of the worst guests he had on the show.

Talking about Smith, he told The Sunday Times magazine: “He was high-fiving the receptionist and saying, 'You're the best receptionist ever’

“High-fiving the phone person and saying, 'You'd better answer those phones!' which I thought was a tad patronising.

“Coming into an office and saying, 'Wow, you answer phones!' It seemed a bit self-aware, like, 'I'm really famous and you're really excited that I've acknowledged you’.”

Grimshaw added that everyone who “comes to see him is nice because they are on air” but then the producers will tell him about the “real them”.

He also admitted that he found Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie to be “cold” but was actually a big fan of reality star Kim Kardashian.

Grimshaw told the publication: “She wasn't trying to be nice, she was just a sweet, pretty girl; a bit airheady and taking pictures of herself, which is what she is selling. It isn't an act.”

From September, Grimshaw and James will swap places on the network as James becomes the new face of breakfast.

Smith recently performed at the closing ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia, with France beating Croatia 4-2 to become champions of the world .
