RAF Flypast Over London Marks 80 Years Since Battle of Britain

Three RAF Spitfires and a Hurricane flew in formation over London on September 20 to mark 80 years since the Battle of Britain.

A service was also held in Westminster Abbey, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson in attendance.

Britain’s victory over the Luftwaffe, in which 544 RAF aircrew and 312 ground personnel died, represented “the first major battle fought entirely in the air, and the first military defeat suffered by Nazi Germany,” the RAF said. Credit: UK Ministry of Defence via Storyful
