Rag n Bone Man cooks up a storm in Plymouth to rival Bert
While Storm Bert raged outside, Rag n Bone Man did a brilliant job of proving why so many people were right to brave the conditions for his Plymouth Pavilions gig on Saturday night.
Promising to provide a welcome distraction from the chaos of the elements, Rory Graham produced a polished display as they went through his quality back catalogue of funky hits and showcased the best of his new album 'What Do You Believe In?' to a packed house determined to savour the opportunity and dance the night away .
Rag n Bone Man is an easy performer to warm to on stage, being very open with his audience from the start and regularly adding to the flow of one song to the next by chatting with the audience - the art of which is becoming harder and harder to come by among live performers.

After the opening few tracks - The Right Way setting an upbeat tone - the singer apologised for not chatting to the audience sooner because of his anxiety over starting the show on the front foot. He then realised he had started chatting about his new album a track too soon in the set list - he is only human, after all.
Rag n Bone Man's vulnerability as a performer was on display throughout the evening - nervously asking the crowd if they were enjoying his new album and voicing his concerns that if he did perform Human too early in the set then everyone might leave.
But that honesty - and his incredible, distinctive vocals paired with a brilliant band and backing singers - combine to superb effect in telling the stories of his songs.
After showing off the best his new album has to offer Rag n Bone Man finished the first part of the set with a rat-a-tat-tat of some upbeat crowd pleasers including Lovers in A Past Life, Crossfire and the aforementioned Human, before being called back to the stage for an encore which finished with Gladiators favourite Giant rounding the evening off in style.
With a comfortable smile on his face and the crowd in his hands, the singer looked like he was really enjoying his trip to the seaside as fans sang and danced along to the last tune of the evening.
A quick selfie and some cheerful words for the front row and Rag n Bone Man was away to spread the word of his new album further. Let's hope he doesn't take the weather with him this time.
